Holy Spirit Inspired Change

Amber Beels:

Welcome to the Holy Spirit Untethered. My name's Amber Beals, and it is my job and my mission to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through me, to help demystify who He is, what his role is, and to deeply encourage you to seek a relationship with him. Alright. Let's get started. Hey, guys.

Amber Beels:

Welcome back to the Holy Spirit Untethered podcast. My name is Amber, and I am looking forward to today's episode for kind of a different reason. I know I tend to use my life a lot in this podcast because, well, that's what I know. Right? This is this is my life.

Amber Beels:

This is these are my experiences and how the Holy Spirit has worked through me and how he continues to work through me and transform me. And a lot of the times, those seasons are exciting and sometimes they're a little uncomfortable. Right? And so I just feel led to kinda share what is going on. And hopefully you guys relate and maybe you get to know me a little bit better.

Amber Beels:

And because, you know, I I wanna be open and vulnerable and be like, you know, yeah, I have a podcast microphone and I'm the one talking, but, you know, I'm just human. I'm just I'm just a girl in California. So I have learned to allow the Holy Spirit, and I'm still learning. I, I can't say that I finished learning, but I am still learning to say yes, say no, and, just allow the Holy Spirit to really use me. So today I wanted to talk about well, first off, before I start talking about today's topic, if you haven't already, please go ahead and listen to last week's episode, which is episode 34.

Amber Beels:

It's with my guest and my friend, Josh Nelson. He's an amazing man of God and I had the privilege of having him on here. And he just got to talk about his experience with the Holy Spirit and how different it was than some of the people that I have on here. I feel like a lot of people who come on this podcast and speak or people who are listening to this podcast, their experience is, wow, I didn't know that about the Holy Spirit. I didn't understand the Holy Spirit could do this in my life or that was one of his roles, or it's more of an epiphany of, like, why don't I think about the Holy Spirit more often type thing.

Amber Beels:

But with Josh, it was different from the beginning. From day one, he was diving into the gifts of the Holy Spirit and just getting these revelations. And he didn't have those, like, traditional limitations that a lot of people have when they grow up in the church or when they have this already understanding of who God is and scripture and everything like that. So it was kind of like a different perspective. And I I really enjoyed the conversation.

Amber Beels:

So I hope you guys enjoyed it as well and and learned some things and got enlightened by it. So, yeah, that was last episode. And today I wanted to talk about change. Seasons of change. I know I have mentioned about seasons of kind of that wilderness season of kind of being dry or feeling like the Holy Spirit or the Lord isn't talking to you and and how to navigate those kinds of seasons or seasons of waiting.

Amber Beels:

But today I wanted to talk about seasons of change because I believe I'm in one. Actually, I don't just believe I know because change has already happened. We're only in February and so much has already happened and it's exciting. It's exciting, but it is different. And so I just kinda wanna share that and, and talk about that.

Amber Beels:

So before we dive into that, let's go ahead and pray. So if you can and safe to do so, go ahead and close your eyes and pray with me. Dear heavenly father, I just thank you for this opportunity to come on this podcast and talk about you. Holy Spirit, I just pray that you would bless every single person that is on this podcast that is listening to this podcast, whether it's right when it comes out or years down the line, Lord, I just pray a blessing over them. Holy Spirit, I just pray that you would speak through me.

Amber Beels:

It would be your words, not mine, and just prepare all of our hearts to listen and just allow this golden nugget that you give us today, that it allows us to take it and run with it and just get to know you better and allow it to apply it in our lives, Lord. And we thank you for that. In Jesus name. Amen. Alright.

Amber Beels:

So seasons of change. So I, right now in my life, a lot of you already know if you've been listening to this podcast, I am pregnant. I am pregnant with a baby girl and I am due in June, June '20 '6. And so Eric and I are very excited, and that in itself is a lot of change. Right?

Amber Beels:

It's just, you know, it was the two of us for the last six and a half years, and now our lives are about to change drastically. We're adding an addition, and it's going to be awesome. We're looking forward to it. There's a little bit of, you know, the unknown. But, you know, last year, my giant was fear.

Amber Beels:

And so I've left that in 2024 in Jesus' name. So this year, no fear. At least fear is a lot less, and it's not what I'm focusing on. This year so far, and I wouldn't consider it a giant, but this year so far has definitely been a year of change for not only myself, but for Eric, our family. I I feel like for our our church as well, maybe even in the kingdom, it's just a lot is happening.

Amber Beels:

And I don't know if that is the same for you wherever you are, whether you're in The US, in California, or wherever. I feel like there's a shift definitely in the church as a whole. And it's exciting. It's exciting because, like, I get to see the Lord move, especially in our church. I get to see him move in my own life personally and in Eric's life and in our families.

Amber Beels:

And it's just, it's exciting. And some of the changes that are happening, like Eric and I, we went through a digital fast. And if you don't know what that is, it's like normal fasting is where you fast from food. And with us, we did a digital fast. I don't believe I can fast right now because I'm pregnant and it's just not safe.

Amber Beels:

And Eric is he's really thin, so I don't want him to fast, at least from food. So we decided to do a digital fast because we just needed some answers from the Lord regarding our business. If you don't already know, we own a video production and podcast management company called Different Mix. That is the company that sponsors this podcast because, you know, it's my company. So, shout out to Melissa and Mikey and Mark, all the people that work for us.

Amber Beels:

It's such a blessing to have this business and have all these wonderful people that work with us and for us. And it's just, it's been beyond amazing and it's been a journey for sure. We started this business in 2017. It's definitely evolved into different things. In 2020, we decided to go into podcasting before it was just videography, but because of, you know, the pandemic and all the things that were happening during that year, we pivoted and started doing podcasting because a lot of people wanted to start their own podcast and didn't exactly know how.

Amber Beels:

And coming from video production, podcasting is just audio. Right? So we were just like, Yeah, we could figure it out. And so we did and we built a whole business model around it. And it now is more than 50% of our business comes from podcasting, which is awesome.

Amber Beels:

The Lord really blessed us through that, and it allowed us to grow and hire other people, which is amazing. But lately our business hasn't been doing as well as we would have hoped at this point. And we were like, all right, Lord, what's up? Like, why are we at the place that we know we could be? And obviously your hand's not on this and we need to kind of take a break, take a pause and figure out exactly what is your will in this because as business owners and just as children of God, we, every decision we make in our lives needs to be in alignment with what the Holy Spirit wants and God's will.

Amber Beels:

And a lot of the times, we just navigate things without consulting him or really like okay. We did consult him for videography. I always felt like videography, we tried to get away from it. Every time we got away from it and doing something else, like, the Lord always brought us back to videography. And so I was like, okay.

Amber Beels:

Videography is in alignment. And then when podcasting happened, you know, we prayed about it and I was like, okay, this this still seems like it's in alignment. Right? But something was off. Something wasn't working because the Lord wasn't blessing it.

Amber Beels:

And I know that we have been given several words that the Lord was gonna bless us and that everything we would do, he would make it prosper. Like we've gotten so many different words on that. And that's an amazing thing to hear and it's an amazing promise. However, in that season of waiting, we're just kind of like, okay, Lord, that's not happening right now. And it's been a few years.

Amber Beels:

And we just want to kind of take a step back, take a pause and figure out, Lord, what is it that you want us to do? Like, are we are we still in alignment? And so we had been praying about it, praying about it, and we weren't getting any answers. So that's why we decided to do that digital fast. And so basically that means no phones like Facebook, social media, no watching movies, no Netflix, no whatever.

Amber Beels:

It's just praying, seeking the Lord, praying together, and then just taking out all those distractions so that we could hear from the Lord. And so we did that for a week, and my goodness, the Lord definitely came through, and he really spoke to Eric. Eric was definitely the one that got a lot of those words and of what our next steps were. And basically the word he got was he was needing to step out of our business and step full time into his dad's business. And his dad, he's in the legal field.

Amber Beels:

He's a human factors safety expert, which sounds like a lot of, a lot of words. Basically in the legal field, I'm not gonna go into it, but basically he has his own business. He's had it for a long time. It's already established. He works with a lot of different attorneys in the area and in Vegas.

Amber Beels:

And Eric's been working with him part time for since I've known him since before we were together. And he has never gotten a feeling or a sense that he was supposed to pursue that full time until now. Until after that fast, it's like the Lord turned on the green light and said, okay, yeah, I want you to go full force into this. You need to step back from your business and go in this direction. And the only reason why we got that answer was because we were not biased when we went to the Lord.

Amber Beels:

And that's really, really, really important. I wanna stress that so much. If you're ever in a season of waiting and you're seeking the Lord and doing a fast and really seeking his will in a certain situation in your life, you have to be unbiased. You have to be like, Lord, it's your will, not mine. You tell me what to do.

Amber Beels:

I don't care either way. I don't care that I have put in all these hours and all this work in the last few years to build this business. If it's not what you want me to do, then I don't want it. It takes some intentionality to get to that point because to be honest, you know, we've been working on this business for a long time. And Eric and I have been in business together since 2016.

Amber Beels:

This business we have currently was formed in 2017, but we've been doing videography together since before we were married. And so a lot of work and effort went into this. Right? And we had to both be at a point of it doesn't matter. That was for a time.

Amber Beels:

That was for a season. What is your word for us now? What do you want for us right now? And when Eric got that word, I prayed and I asked for confirmation and said, Lord, like, is this truly what you want us to do? Is this what you have in store for us?

Amber Beels:

And the word he gave me was, you need to follow now. Eric needs to lead. And I want you to know that he is being led by me, by my spirit, and that you can trust in whatever he says. And to be honest, that was a big relief for me because that has been my prayer that Eric would be the spiritual leader in our house because that is the role of the man. The man's supposed to be the spiritual leader of his household.

Amber Beels:

And that has always been my prayer that he would step into that. I feel like Eric never felt worthy of that role, almost. And I'm gonna invite him to come on this podcast and talk a little bit more about it because I'd love for you guys to hear his side. But yeah, I I feel like that was his kind of perspective. And so when he got that word from the Lord of like, okay, you're at a place now, Eric, that you can you have put me first, the Lord first, and now I give you permission to go full force into your dad's business because you're not going to find your identity in what you do.

Amber Beels:

You now find your identity in me. And that is so important in finding your identity, not in what you do, not in your occupation, but in who you are. And that is a child of God. You, the person listening to this podcast right now, are a child of God. I am a child of God.

Amber Beels:

And that should be our one and only identity that we take any stake in because that's the only one that matters. That we are sons and daughters of the King Most High. That's it. It doesn't matter if you're a business owner. It doesn't matter if you're a teacher.

Amber Beels:

It doesn't matter if you're a nurse. It doesn't matter. Those are the things you do, but that's not who you are. And that took Eric a long time to get there. And he's finally there.

Amber Beels:

Praise the Lord. He's finally there and he is now full force into his dad's business. And so for us as a married couple, this is a huge season of change. The last month, we've been going through this transition of him transitioning out, of him transitioning out of the business. And what does that look like?

Amber Beels:

And now I'm taking over the business and I could not do it without my best friend, Melissa. Melissa is the one that edits this podcast as well. And she knows that if it wasn't for her, I don't know how well I would be doing right now. She has definitely helped in that transition and she supported us. She has been right there alongside us.

Amber Beels:

She hasn't complained. She hasn't been like, woah, what the what's gonna happen with with the business? You know, whatever. And I'm not intending to drop it at all. I'm just trying to get it to a stable place and she's helping me do that.

Amber Beels:

Along with Mark, he also helps a lot. He does helps with the videography side of things. And so he's kind of helping me take that effort. And of course, Mikey is just here and he's amazing. He's always been supportive.

Amber Beels:

So it's just amazing. But, yeah, without my team, this transition would have been a lot harder. But this whole change of like, okay, we've done this business thing together for years now. Now we're switching gears. Now Eric is doing this and I'm doing the business.

Amber Beels:

And I had to grieve that a little bit because, you know, this was ours. This was our business. We always worked together. We were always known as the husband and wife team and to all of our clients. And so it it it took a little bit of, you know, processing, but I I'm good with it.

Amber Beels:

And a lot of that had to do with me trusting the Lord and me having the support system that I have with Eric and Melissa and my team. And it's like it's not like I was just dropped off. Like, Eric wasn't like, you know, peace out girl scout. Like, I'm just gonna do this now. Of course, he's helping me, you know, pick up the pieces and making sure that, like, I'm good while he kinda pursues this.

Amber Beels:

And there's a lot of stuff that he has to pursue, like certifications and and training. And I have to say that all of these changes, we have been blessed by it, already have been blessed by it. And it's been an amazing journey. And just seeing all those changes and knowing that we're gonna have a little one in June and another change happened today with with my senior pastor. And it was like a big change.

Amber Beels:

And I like the Lord, we were praying today that once a week, we pray as a church. We take all the prayer requests from the congregation and we pray and we lift up people. And it it's amazing. I haven't been in the last couple of months. So today, I got to come back to that and it was it felt really good to come back.

Amber Beels:

But during that prayer, the Lord spoke to me again about a certain situation, and it was another big change. And I'm not gonna announce it right now, but it was just a a change that I was like, oh, okay. I guess we're doing this now. And so when we were done with our prayer, I talked to Shane, and I was like, so I think we should pursue this. I think this is what needs to happen.

Amber Beels:

And he was like, oh, okay. That's big. And I'm like, yeah. But I think it's good. And I handled it a lot better this time than I did, like, you know, with the LifeGroup thing.

Amber Beels:

Like, stepping down from LifeGroup, I handled this situation a lot better. And it was kind of, I don't know what word to really use. I don't wanna say a relief, but it was just kinda like, oh, okay. This is the way we're going. And as I'm processing it now, it was just growth, I guess, from the Holy Spirit.

Amber Beels:

Just I've had so much change in the last couple of months that this another big change didn't throw me off. It wasn't like, okay. I have another thing I have to deal with or I have another thing that I need to work through or process. And it's good that I didn't hesitate this time. And I was like, okay, no, this is the direction the Lord wants us to go.

Amber Beels:

And this is the way I'm gonna go. And this is the way that I'm going to, you know, express and put up boundaries, whatever. And it was good this time. It wasn't like me hesitating or me second guessing. It was just like, okay, okay, we're gonna go this way.

Amber Beels:

But even though that's a good thing in terms of like when the Lord wants another change that we go with it and we just say yes. I still think it's really important and I still need to kind of go through this is is process. Like, okay, saying yes or saying no or whatever the Holy Spirit's telling you to do, you need to do the thing, but you also kinda need to process what he just tells you to do. Because for me right now, with all these changes that are happening, I'm just kinda like, okay, I feel like like a piece of driftwood in the ocean, and I just keep being tossed back and forth of like, okay, this change is happening, this change is happening. I'm just kinda going with the flow, and I'm like, okay, this is where we're going.

Amber Beels:

Okay, I'm just kinda holding on. And I think in one respect, that's healthy, but at the same time, there still needs to be time to process and make sure that I'm okay and make sure that, like, I'm not holding on to any grudges or or bitterness or anything like that. And as I'm kind of checking myself right now on this podcast as we speak, I'm okay. Like, yeah, there's there's there's gonna be some changes and it's gonna be uncomfortable and it's going to be different, but change is good and change can be exciting. And the Lord is working.

Amber Beels:

Like this is just one of those areas that the Lord is working in my life. And sometimes it's okay to kind of sit back and let the Lord work. Just don't get in the way and just go with the waves, go with it, and make sure that you're there for every wave. Make sure that you're not burning any bridges, not make sure you're not taking over or holding on to things. Like, change is good.

Amber Beels:

It's healthy, and it can be uncomfortable. I feel like a lot of people don't like change, but I feel like the holy spirit, it he's the director of change. Like, he's the one that transforms us. Right? He's the one that takes away things that no longer serve us.

Amber Beels:

He's the one that adds things and and gives us more characteristics to be more like Jesus and to be more righteous, more holy. He's the one that is facilitating change. He is the facilitator of change. Right? The Holy Spirit does that.

Amber Beels:

And so when we are open to that, it makes it more sweet. It makes it so that the Holy Spirit can really work because we're not getting in his way. Right? And so it's just an amazing experience now kind of being on the other side of that waiting season. I am now going through and transitioning into the the changing season.

Amber Beels:

And yeah, it's kind of chaotic a little bit, but it's good because I know the Lord's hand is on it because I'm at a place now where I've dealt with the fear from last year. I've dealt with the waiting. I've dealt with all the insecurities and all the things and just, I'm like, okay, Lord, I've, I'm basically surrendered at this point. And that's what the Lord wants. He wants a surrendered heart.

Amber Beels:

He wants a submitted heart so that he can use us. And I'm not saying I'm completely there. I still have lots and lots and lots of work to do in terms of allowing the Holy Spirit to lead and and making sure that I'm in alignment and making sure that I'm and making sure that I am being a vessel that he can use and being open to that. I I know a couple episodes ago, I talked about how there are things I said that boxed the holy spirit and made him not be able to use me in certain areas of my life. So there are still things that I'm working through.

Amber Beels:

And so I want to encourage everyone listening to this podcast to, to not be afraid of change, to not be afraid of being uncomfortable, to not be afraid of what the Lord has for you and asking him and going through those fasts and and seeking the Lord and just kind of taking a pause. Taking a pause If something's not working in your life or you've been struggling with a thing for a while or you're uncertain, take a pause and pray about it. And if praying's not working, try fasting and seeking Him and seeking His voice, seeking His face, seeking His heart, seeking His will for that certain area in your life. And if you do that, He's going to answer you. You may and you have to be unbiased.

Amber Beels:

Like I had mentioned, you have to not be looking for a particular outcome. You have to be open to whatever the Lord wants to do in your life. Because I'll let you know, last year, if Eric had told me that he wants to pursue his dad's business full time, I'd be like, no. No. Because I was so attached to our business and what we were building.

Amber Beels:

And I was just so convinced that this is where we needed to be, that this is where the Lord wanted us, and that this was the direction that we were supposed to go and that the Lord would bless it. And after that fast and after just taking a step back and pausing and being like, Lord, you know what? I don't care. I don't care that I've done the work for this particular outcome. I don't care that I was invested so heavily in this outcome.

Amber Beels:

What I want is what you want for my life. That's what I want. That is what is most important to me right now in this moment for me, for my family, for Aviva, my unborn baby girl. I want to be that example for her so that she knows how to navigate these seasons in her life. And everybody goes through seasons.

Amber Beels:

Like, I know seasons is that word. It's kinda like a Christianese word where you're like we use it a lot because there's different highlights and lows in in in your life, and we just call them seasons. But it's so true. Like, we go through the low seasons in our life where it's the testing and the trials that the Lord is putting you through. And then we also go through highs where the Lord is just blessing you and and pouring into you.

Amber Beels:

And he's he's talking to you and he's using you. And then we have seasons of waiting where he's given you a promise and then you gotta wait. And that's part of that testing season where you have to wait and just allow the Lord to work on you, take away those things that don't serve you and allow him into your life and every single room in your heart. Because a lot of the times we have rooms in our hearts that we're like, Lord, it's okay. Don't touch that one.

Amber Beels:

I got that closet. It's fine. Don't don't work. Don't look in there. I know I have that in my house.

Amber Beels:

Like when people come over, I clean certain areas of my house and there's certain areas that they are not allowed in because that's the junk room. Like, you don't don't go in there. And we do that for our heart too. We're like, lord, you know, just don't look in that closet. It's fine.

Amber Beels:

Like, you can have all the different you have the keys to every single room in this heart other than that closet. Don't look in there. And that can be dangerous because it'll start off with a closet, and then it'll be a whole room, and then it'll be a whole wing of your house, of your of your heart house in this analogy. But it's just so important for us to be open and vulnerable and allow the Holy Spirit into every single room and allow Him to clear it out. And even though it's hard, even though it's uncomfortable, at the end, it's going to be worth it.

Amber Beels:

It's going to be okay. You're going to be better at the end of it. Because those things you're holding on to, even though you're comfortable with them, they don't do anything for you. And the Lord knows that. Holy Spirit knows it.

Amber Beels:

That's why we need to create an environment where He can work, where he can transform, take away, add, do all the things, and use us. Because at the end of the day, we want the Holy Spirit to be able to use our lives, use our voice, use our lips, use our skills, use our gifts to be able to build the kingdom and bless others because the Lord loves us. He created you. He loves you and he wants to use you and he wants to have that intimate relationship with you. And that can only happen if you're intentional with it and if you're vulnerable with it.

Amber Beels:

Spiritual growth only happens to those who are intentional with it. That's the one thing I've learned is that your spiritual walk, your spiritual growth is on you. It's not on your pastor. It's not on your life group. It's not on your Bible study.

Amber Beels:

It's not on your spouse. It's on you. Are you in the word? Are you seeking the Lord's face? Are you praying?

Amber Beels:

Are you talking to Him? Are you surrendering to Him? Are you saying yes to Him? Those are all the questions that you should be asking yourself and you should be checking in every once in a while and making sure, am I doing the things that the Lord wants me to do? And if I'm failing in certain areas, Lord, Holy Spirit, please reveal those areas to me and just allow me to fully follow you because if I stray a little bit and I don't identify it, I'm gonna start straying a lot and that's not where I wanna be.

Amber Beels:

So that's it, guys. I hope that this message, you resonate with it. I hope that it helps you if you were going through a season of change. Maybe you can relate with some of the things. Or if you are in a season of waiting, just know that the season of waiting or the season of the wilderness or seasons of trials, they never last forever.

Amber Beels:

Right? They may last for a little while, but they never last forever. And it's up to you. You can't ever shorten them, but you can extend them. And you do that by complaining or grumbling or, you know, those kinds of things.

Amber Beels:

I mean, the Lord's going to look at your heart. So whatever season you're in, I want to encourage you to lean in. Lean into your season and ask what the Holy Spirit has for you in this season so that you can learn the lessons and not have to extend that season if you don't want to extend it. Alright, guys. I hope you have a blessed week.

Amber Beels:

I hope you enjoy this. I hope this blesses you. If you can, please share this episode with somebody that you know. If you could leave me a rating on Apple, you can write a little review, you can leave a review on Spotify or whatever app that you listen on. I would really appreciate you leaving a reading, leaving a review, and sharing this with a friend.

Amber Beels:

That's how we get this message out. That's how I'm able to just use this podcast for the Lord's work. So I really appreciate your help in that. Alright, guys. Hope you have a great week, and I'll see you next week.
